Saving money and
the environment

Many customers are well informed when it comes to the benefits Superior Eco Lighting Systems can offer in terms of energy efficiency, however they sometimes overlook the health and performance implications of poor quality lighting, particularly in academic settings.

A plethora of academic studies have been conducted on this subject and almost all agree that the benefits of anti-flicker, high grade LED lighting are huge. Studies have shown a significant increase in concentration time as well as improved test results.

As anyone working in a dimly lit office can testify, light can have an enormous effect on health and well-being. A lack of light has also been proven to lead to depression in conditions such as Seasonal Adjustment Disorder, and to lower workers’ productivity.

Poor lighting in schools is as much a problem, as demonstrated in a recent study by Lighting for People, part of an EU-funded research project to introduce better quality lighting systems throughout the European Union.

Another area for concern is that school lighting is always on. When the classroom is empty, no one turns it off. And when there is plenty of daylight, the fact that the lights are still on goes unnoticed, wasting yet more money. Due to the vast array of retrofit LED products on the market, installing your new lighting system could be as simple as changing a light bulb. There are a few exceptions to this rule when dealing with “tube” lighting but this can be easily remedied.

Unlike traditional lighting, LED lights do not flicker or strobe. They provide constant lighting, with high Light Rendering Index revealing “true colours” and Panel lights provide uniform blanket lighting.

Instant Light and Dimmable

LED Lights provide instant lighting, unlike Energy Saving CFL bulbs which take time to achieve full illumination. Systems can also be provided to control the amount of light in a specific environment with dimming controls.



Reduced Carbon Footprint

No Mercury

Fluorescent lighting contains mercury and therefore has special disposal requirements, unlike LED bulbs. This is highlighted by a reduced WEEE Charge for LED lights.

Reduced Light Pollution

Light pollution is reduced when using LED Lighting, due to the bulbs producing directional light.

Zero UV or IR Radiation

Traditional lighting over time can damage sensitive fabric or wallpaper, causing them to fade or discolour. LED light bulbs produce no ultra-violet or infra-red radiation.



Most top-quality LED light bulbs are made with strong plastic housings containing a solid array of LEDs. This can help industries where the broken glass from traditional bulb would normally cause them downtime in production. LEDs are a great alternative and can further reduce insurance costs.


Some LED lighting units come fully sealed, which means that dust and insects cannot gather inside the unit. These types of units are good for industries such as food processing factories, care homes and other health-conscious organisations.

Reduced Fire Hazard and Risk of Burns

LED bulbs do not produce what is called “cold” light. This can reduce the risk of burns and fire hazards, which in turn can help reduce insurance costs.



LED Lighting provides the most efficient way of illumination, with an estimated energy efficiency of 80% - 90% when compared to traditional lighting.

The light used is all you pay for

Instead of throwing light in all directions, as traditional bulbs do, LED Lighting can be set in such a way that it only illuminates the areas that are required.

The cost of maintenance is reduced

The cost of replacement is reduced as with LED bulbs you can get over 50,000 hours of illumination. This then sees a huge reduction in maintenance costs as with traditional lighting this can be quite expensive. This is even more obvious where lighting is hard to get to, such as stairwells, production lines or atriums.
